Baylor vs GPS Soccer
Ellis Coffelt

Baylor’s female varsity soccer players went head to head with the undefeated GPS Bruisers for a tough match Wednesday night, Sept. 30. The girls played a fast-paced game that was scoreless until after halftime. The final result was a win for GPS, going home with a one-goal victory.

Senior Ashley Norman remarked, “GPS is ranked number two in the nation, so we were very happy about only letting them score one goal on us. I’m so proud of how the team played; everyone worked so hard and fought until the very end.”

The girls held GPS, in fact, until the Bruisers scored the only goal of the game with less than fifteen minutes to go. Senior Gracie Mae Bankes who attended the match was impressed, saying, “We kept possession very well and were able to hold the score 0-0 till the last twenty minutes.”

It is a true testament to the resilience of our soccer players that they did not let up against the nationally-ranked Bruisers. The close score of the game reflects the Baylor women’s soccer players’ skill. They stayed tough, held their own and proved themselves to be a competitive team.
