Our Mission
Periaktoi's mission is to produce a journal of art and literature that reflects the diversity of experience and inspiring talent present in the Baylor community. Art and literature provide unique value to our community and serve as a vehicle for expressing the inexpressible, for exploring human experience in all its varied dimensions. In recognition of this value, Periaktoi seeks to promote access and expand interest in the arts at Baylor, while providing a forum for artists, musicians and writers to showcase their work to the broader community.

All my real feelings and wants traveled in the Inaudible noise
Sometimes the body moves somewhere
Too quickly for the soul

The station was filled with steam and smelled of a mixture of coal smoke, tobacco smoke, and sweat with a hint of perfume. People shuffled and shoved themselves about the platforms, through crowds of paupers and aristocrats who mingled with each other long enough to get into an isolated compartment on a train that would take them far away from the overcrowded platforms of King's Cross Station.

Tracing spontaneous, broken lines,
which cut jaggedly across your palm,
this gypsy woman can expertly index
what situations you'll end up in the middle
of, and who might just put a ring
on your untouched third finger.
- Poetry
On a speck,
A windswept, seal-draped rock,
A stick figure of a wolf materializes
In British Columbia.
Two muzzles plod across
The land bridge,
The bold Matriarch
Coughs—a hostile chuff

I met a new best friend at school named Jack.
I was bullied today by Susie.
When I'm with Jack, I feel really happy.
Susie pushed me down and pulled my hair on the playground.
Sometimes Jack and I like to play hide-and-seek.
- Essay
From the day we are born, we are constantly being told by society and elders what we are going to love and how we are going to live our lives. It may be abstract, but certain aspects of our life are drilled into us to the point where we are convinced they represent our worth.

He shouted for another drink, drowned in his sorrows. It might not be correct, but it was my right to get wasted. Besides, this helps me forget.
