Drawing by Rachel Payne

A book's a chance to look inside for truth,

A key to worlds beyond our sense of real.

Unlocks it dreams of long forgotten youth

And opens doors of mind to realms ideal.

How glad am I to leave this dreary earth

And enter into fiction kingdoms grand.

Oh come replace suspense-less days with

mirth

And joys untold, your tales be wonderland.

The hours I spend with you are gifts indeed;

My beating heart exults when you I view.

No gold nor jew'ls could ever supersede

The ard'rous life –my heart– I give to you.

You show me wondrous sights from worlds

above,

And in return to you I donne my love.

Notes:

Ard'rous

meaning: passionate, full of love, eager, or

energetic

Origin: shortened form of ardorous; comes from

the root word ardor
