Rain Women
Ebun Akinlaja
Drip, Drip, Drop
Gloomy is the word to describe me
Everywhere I go the rain follows
It’s true I am the rain woman
Pit, pit, pat
Melancholy is the word to describe me
Every time the drops hit the floor another piece of me is destroyed
They say water is clear but in my eyes it’s full of sorrow and despair
Tap, tap, tip
Omit is the word to describe me
Slap, slap, plat
Gray skies appear, all the doors are shut
Left behind in my own dark skies
Not a glimpse of the sons golden ray
Dejection is a word to describe me
Splash, splash, clash
Icy boots hit the puddle
Looking into a reflection of disappointment
Frozen heart, firm and heavy like a stone
