Found Poem: When Worlds Collide
Marguerite Pippenger, Jamie Butt, Ellie Myers, and Mac Hickman
Closing his eyes
Letting his memory overtake him
Waking up to quiet voices
Hearing a dog bark
A faint buzz of insects all around
He tried to imagine himself in the shadow life
The more he remembers
The more he’s lost
Memories like dreams
There was money
There were dentists
There were hot water and showers
He tries to imagine that life
playing out in the present
Waking from this unsettling dream
Time has been reset
By catastrophe
One world ended
Another began
The night was brighter
Than it had ever been.
