Found Poem: Finding a Voice
Baker Young, Claire Holtzclaw
All I know how to do is stay alive
I stay where I'm told
I jump right up and do just what they say
You got to fight
I'm a slave
I let 'em do anything they want
Don't let them run over you
You got to fight
She ugly
She ain't fresh
She spoiled. Twice
You got to fight
When pa tell you to do something, you do it
He beat you
You ain't got no place
You got to fight
Everybody know my name
I don't care
I don't need no weak little boy
I don't care
I'll kill him dead before I let him beat me
I don't care
I ain't your fucking mama
I don't care
My name Mary Agnes
And don't you forgit it
