A Prayer For My Sister

Your mouth is still

running, spewing

day and night.

That clothes-taking thief in you

insisting on not asking

is the young devil

for whom my closet

thins.

If I am not with you

when mom catches you,

that is just.

It is what you deserve.

That part of you ransacked

my closet more than once. But I

will find you

meddling in my things

and understand now

that you

want to be me; we

will guide

ourselves to the Mediator of Reason,

who will make me

be tender

and you ask permission.
