For the Muse Painting they have to create their own Muse after studying the concept in Humanities class. In spired by Greek sculpture heads, the students created their own Muse that represents something they would like to invoke in their lives. They choose a mostly monochromatic palette of acrylics, using a color that best symbolizes the emotion of their own wishes or dreams for their own lives.
For the Watercolor Trees the students learn how to use watercolor to create atmospheric perspective. They first paint gradient change using the "wet into wet" technique and are encouraged to use inventive colors to create imaginary skies. They then study the trees outside of the studio window to paint their own silhouette trees. Students are encouraged to experiment in illustrating different times of the day as well as different seasons.
