We are pleased to announce that Julie Garrett will serve as the Parent Alliance president for a two-year term (2019-20 and 2020-21). In her role as president, she will also be a member of the Baylor Board of Trustees. Julie and her husband, Carter, live on Lookout Mountain and are the parents of Logan '16, Emrick '21, Carter ‘24, Davis ‘25, and Mae Thomas '26.
A message from Julie:
Along with having five children as Baylor students, my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all graduated from Baylor, so my family's love for our school runs deep! The first time I arrived on campus as a new parent, I felt welcomed and embraced as a member of the school community and I want you to feel the same way. Getting involved is key!
There are a number of volunteer opportunities through the Parent Alliance that offer invaluable experiences and friendships. Regardless of the amount of time you are able to commit, we welcome your involvement and participation. I know you will soon see why Baylor is such a fabulous place. I look forward to seeing you around campus!
The mission of the Parent Alliance is to be a responsible and relevant partner with the Baylor community in advancing the school’s mission by giving parents a forum in which to communicate their interests, cares and concerns to the administration and one another and by planning and producing events and activities that support this purpose.
As parents, step-parents or guardians of a Baylor student, we all are members of the Baylor Parent Alliance. The Baylor Parent Alliance was formed so that parents could get involved with Baylor. Parents have a role to play, in partnership with Baylor’s administration, staff and faculty, in ensuring the best environment possible for the education and development of Baylor students. The Parent Alliance is the vehicle that enables parents to get involved at Baylor. Through the Parent Alliance, parents can:
• Be a resource for Baylor’s administration, faculty and staff
• More effectively contribute their time and talents as volunteers
• Help build school spirit and a sense of school community
• Foster parent-to-parent communication and support
• Help promote and market the school
