The Baylor Board of Trustees announced that funding for a new outdoor pool honoring Headmaster Scott Wilson ’75 and his wife, Susan, is in place and the construction began in June with an anticipated opening by the summer of 2021.
The Wilson Activities Center will feature a diving pool and platform, a wading pool for younger children and campers, and a four-lane, 25-yard lap pool for games and exercise, all beautifully sited overlooking the Tennessee River behind Roddy Theater and Ireland Art Studio. “The new pool will enhance Baylor’s summer programs, our boarding and day student campus life experience, and serve as an asset for our faculty and staff and their families,” said Board Chairman Ryan Crimmins ’78.
“This spectacular pool will benefit every single student, will transform our summer camp programs, and will be a big draw for prospective dorm students,” said Zan Guerry ’67, a legacy trustee, former board chair, and chair of the Forever Forward campaign that raised more than $50 million for the school.
“A special thanks to Baylor trustee Zan Guerry ’67 and Baylor’s development office headed by Matt Lewis ’74 for securing funds for this exciting project. The Board of Trustees is to be congratulated, as well, for stepping up for Baylor to fund this project and realizing the positive impact it will have on our entire Baylor Family. It is inspiring to see Baylor’s trustees lead during these difficult times,” added Crimmins.
