"Surviving the Teen Years Series” Begins Thursday, Oct. 17

All parents are encouraged to attend the first event in their "Surviving the Teen Years Series” on Thursday, Oct. 17, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Scotty Probasco Academic Building. The evening will feature Dr. Suzannah Bozzone, Family Physician, and Crissie Smith, RN/BS, and is organized by Baylor's Health & Wellness directors Jenny Green and Rachelle Parman.

Dr. Bozzone will give parents an overview of the “why and how” of incorporating Lifestyle Medicine into your family’s life. Lifestyle Medicine is the evidence-based use of optimal diet, movement, sleep, and stress management to prevent, treat and even reverse disease.  She will focus on the use of lifestyle to address the most common problems our student’s struggle with, such as skin, gastrointestinal, hormonal, weight, and mental health issues and relay this life saving information in a fun and entertaining way!

Crissie Smith will address healthy eating during the teenage years and beyond. She will present applicable and hands-on tips for preparing the healthiest fuel for optimal health and performance during the busy teenage years, importantly setting good habits for a life of activity and disease prevention. Crissie will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner illustrating the benefits of a whole food plant-based diet and making it simple and delicious! Parents will walk away with a better understanding of why we eat what we eat and how we can control our health destiny one bite at a time!
