Seniors Get an Unexpected Thanksgiving Gesture

Addressing Baylor students in assembly before the school dismissed for Thanksgiving break on Friday, Nov. 22, Director of Institutional Advancement, John Harrison ’84, had a surprise for seniors.

Recalling founding headmaster John Roy Baylor’s directive to the student body of 1926 to live a life of “magnanimitas,” or “greatness of spirit,” Harrison announced that the school had received a $19,500 gift by an anonymous donor.  Explaining that at the end of assembly each of the 195 members of Class of 2020 would receive an envelope with $100 bill in it, he went on to say that they were to contribute the money to a worthy cause of their choice.  “Servant leadership is about putting someone else’s needs in front of your own,” said Harrison.
