Middle School Awards 2020

Academic and leadership awards were presented to Baylor Middle School students during a virtual ceremony on May 28.

Leadership Awards

The DEAN R. STERLING VALEDICTORY AWARD is presented each year to the eighth-grade student with the highest academic average in the class. The award is a silver tray. This year’s valedictorian is Ellie Smith.

The SALUTATORY AWARD is given each year to the eighth-grade student with the second highest average in the class. The award is a silver tray. This year’s salutatorian is Corinne Hessler.

The ALEXANDER GUERRY AWARD is given annually to two Middle School students, a boy and a girl in the seventh or eighth grades, who are considered by a vote of the seventh and eighth grade student body to be "best all around." The award is an engraved Revere Bowl. This year’s awards went to eighth graders Helen Guerry and Preston Kincer, who also were selected as the awards recipients as seventh graders last year.

Awarded by a vote of a faculty committee the MICHELLE KADRIE ’91 AWARD is presented each year to a Middle School student who exhibits a compassionate caring attitude toward others and an extraordinary enthusiasm exhibited in all aspects of Baylor life, the awards are a check for $100 and a Jefferson Cup. This year’s recipients were Max Hickman and Kaylee Snyder. Interestingly, Snyder's mother, Melissa Love Snyder '90, was the first ever recipient of the Michelle Kadrie Award.

The SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARD is given annually to eighth graders who compete at the highest level in the classroom and on the athletic fields. The award is a copy of the book Athletic Shorts. The award went to Preston Kincer and Riley Oleksik.

The DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION YOUTH CITIZENSHIP AWARD recognizes individuals who display the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. This year’s recipient is Olivia Cranford
