Howard is TSSAA Mr. Football Semifinalist

Baylor junior Elijah Howard has been named a TSSAA Tennessee Titans Mr. Football semifinalist.

The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards are presented to the top football players in nine classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association each year. Three finalists in each classification will be announced on Nov. 19 with winners named on Monday, December 2, 2019, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Howard has rushed for 1,422 yards this season, averaging nearly nine yards per carry, and has scored 20 touchdowns for Baylor. The Raiders finished the regular season 9-1 and a number two seed in the state playoffs. Baylor hosts MBA in a state quarterfinal game Nov. 15.

A committee of statewide sports writers select winners based on performance in the 2019 regular season. Academics and character are also taken into consideration. High school head coaches and members of the media nominate the semifinalists.
