Baylor's double track and field state champion, Evie Culbreath '23, finished second in the heptathlon at the 2022 Nike Outdoor Nationals, competed at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., June 16-19.
Culbreath, fresh off state championships in the pentathlon and the 100 meter hurdles at the Spring Fling in May, amassed 4,717 points in the seven-event competition that features the javelin throw, shot put, high jump, long jump, 100 meter hurdles, the 200 meter dash, and the 800 meter run. Culbreath's total finished behind champion Shaina Zinter of East Bethel, Minn., who earned 5,122 points. This was Culbreath's first National Outdoor appearance.
The Nike Outdoor Nationals is hosted by the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation and features America's top high school track and field athletes.
