Baylor Works offers professional experience for soon-to-be graduated seniors and college-age young alumni from '18 - '22. In its ninth year, the 2022 program placed 16 interns at 15 internship opportunities.

Child Life Specialists help children cope with the stress and anxiety associated with being in the hospital. As a volunteer with the Child Life department, you undertake this role as well. Volunteers are an imperative part of the services we provide. Through your support we are able to broaden our Child Life services by providing more experiences that will lessen the stress and promote positive growth and development during hospitalization.
Summary of Responsibility
- Work directly with Child Life staff to review the patient census and communicate developmentally appropriate needs.
- Help with recreational activities and play opportunities in group and one-on-one situations by providing a comfortable, accepting and non-threatening environment under the direction of a Child Life Specialist.
- Interact with patients and their siblings in the playroom and at bedside.
- In charge of daily cleaning of toys, supplies and other play materials, and maintain an ongoing inventory of supplies, in order to maintain safe, clean and well-organized playrooms.
- Provide volunteer coverage for special events, field trips and other activities sponsored/assisted by the Child Life department.
Requirements and Benefits
- Reference checks, backgrounds checks, TB skin tests and proof of immunizations are all required before becoming a volunteer intern.
- Applicants must complete volunteer orientation, which includes HIPAA training.
- Volunteers must receive annual TB skin tests and flu vaccines.
- The volunteer uniform shirt is $20. If this cost is a hardship, please let us know.
- Volunteers serving on either the Baroness or Erlanger East campuses will receive a complimentary meal plan.

Description: Patrick, Beard, Schulman & Jacoway is a 19-attorney Chattanooga law firm whose practice spans most areas of civil litigation and corporate law. The intern will support all areas of the firm’s daily operations by preparing documents to file in court or to send a client, investigating cases, reviewing evidence, drafting letters, researching legal and factual issues, and attending court hearings. Though those specific tasks will vary based upon the types cases and business transactions that the firm’s attorneys are handling during the internship, the intern will always have the opportunity to meaningfully experience the judicial system. Last year’s intern, for example, observed a weeklong jury trial over an international business dispute that resulted in verdict over $20,000,000.

This person will be the first person a policyholder will see upon entering our office, or one of the first people they talk to on the phone. An internship with FSM will provide an overview of business manager’s daily tasks and an overview of the financial requirements for a successful business in the Nashville Music Community.

Description
Interns work closely with a team of consultants on discrete client engagements and deliverables. Tasks consist of but are not limited to: conduct research on healthcare stakeholders across sectors including research, advocacy, policy and philanthropy; support healthcare clients as they plan and execute their external engagement strategies; analyze qualitative market research data to inform client strategy; and develop communications materials such as newsletters, social media messaging and key presentations. Interns will have the opportunity to work on challenging client questions, track and draft client deliverables, and develop a presence with clients during meetings.
The internship will be open to in-person and remote work, with preference given to in-person candidates who are available in the Atlanta Metro Area. The start date is flexible.
Required Qualifications:
- Motivated self-starters with experience or an interest in communications, healthcare, advocacy, business, and public policy
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills
- Experience developing clear and compelling communication materials, both in writing and in PowerPoint presentations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organization, attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong staffer mentality, with the ability to summarize key insights, discussions, takeaways and next steps from internal and client meetings
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Candidates who have 1-2 years of experience and an undergraduate degree
- Located in Atlanta area
- Multi-lingual (preferably Spanish speaking skills)
- Graphic design experience, using platforms such as Adobe, Canva and Microsoft Office
- Social media proficiency or expertise
- Experience with Search Engine Optimization and/or market research
