Alan Shuptrine ’81: Artist

As a Baylor alumnus, artist Alan Shuptrine ’81 has done his share of walking around Baylor’s campus.

But when his sons, Jake ’14 and Ben ’16, enrolled as students, his interest in preserving Baylor memories for a new generation and a philanthropic desire to give back to the school intensified.

In 2007, Alan began a series of watercolors called “The Walks of Baylor” and has since completed six paintings (framed in hand-carved, 22kt gold leaf frames also created by Alan), which in turn have been donated as a full gift to the biennial Celebrations Auction.

Alan and his wife, Bonny, are now making a limited number of prints from this popular series available to alumni, graduates, faculty and others in the Baylor community and donating a portion of the proceeds to the school’s lacrosse program.

“The Walks of Baylor” prints are available in the following six images: “Baylor Bridge,” “Big Red Walk,” “Cross Walk,” “Honor Walk,” “Patriot Walk,” and “Early Morning.” These prints are artist proof archival print form, sized 16 • 20 inches, matted and archival secured for shipping. Prints are $350 each and are also available in a custom-designed frame for $550.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Alan is considered a renowned practitioner in watercolor, and the centuries-old art of water gilding with genuine gold leaf.
