Baylor School Fine Arts Schedule of Events 2023-2024
Baylor’s Fine Arts Department is proud to showcase the many talents of our students throughout the year through performances and special exhibits on campus. Our students are also actively participating in arts festivals and community events throughout the year:
Winter Band and Orchestra Concert
December 3, at 2 p.m.
Alumni Chapel
Middle School and Upper School Band and Orchestra will present a performance of repertoire studied in the fall semester.
Winter Choir Concert
December 5, at 7 p.m.
Alumni Chapel
Baylor’s Middle School, Upper School, and Community Choirs present this favorite annual tradition of traditional “classics,” holiday carols, and new compositions celebrating the joy of the season.
One Acts

Students from the Theater 200/300 Class will present a collection of Short Plays they have been preparing throughout the semester.

The Middle School Players will present James and the Giant Peach, dramatized by Richard R. George.
"A magical peach! An imprisoned boy! Insect friends! An incredible journey! This amazing adventure of James Henry Trotter will fulfill the fantasy of anyone who has ever dreamed of escape. Roald Dahl's story comes hilariously to life in this delightful dramatization that reveals the wickedness of some, the goodness of others, and the indecision encountered by many when they are faced with crises."

Dining Hall
The Baylor Winter Players will share two children's plays that are student-directed and student-designed. We encourage the entire Baylor community, especially on-campus families and all the members of the boarding community, to come out for an afternoon or evening of children's theater along with cocoa and cookies provided by the Baylor Backers.
*These plays will also be shared with the community service scholars at Carver and Westside Community Centers in January.

This annual dance concert features both Middle School and Upper School dancers performing choreography by faculty, students, and guest artists.

An audition-based ensemble featuring the most accomplished young musicians in the region; Baylor participants will be announced after the January auditions.
Chattanooga Youth Symphony Winter Concert
February 12 at 6:30 p.m.
UTC Fine Arts Center
The Chattanooga Youth Symphony is a full orchestra comprised of the highest level musicians in the Chattanooga area. Multiple Baylor students perform in the ensemble and rehearse weekly to put together challenging music from a variety of composers.
Choir Spring Trip
March 14-15
Nashville, Tenn.
Members of Baylor’s Concert Choir travels to Nashville to participate in collegiate masterclasses, experience a songwriting workshop at the Country Music Hall of Fame and a historic tour of the National Museum of African American Music, and enjoy a touring Broadway musical.

Tennessee Music Educators Association Conference, All-State Band, Orchestra, & Choir
April 10-13
Nashville, Tenn.
Audition-based ensembles featuring the most accomplished young instrumental and vocal musicians in the state. Performances take place on April 13th in the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.
