Boarding Community

2023 Slideshow - Boarding Life

Preparing for Life

Our boarding community allows students to become more self-sufficient, independent and responsible so they are well-prepared for college and life beyond Baylor.

Caring Supervision

All of our dormitories are led by teams of dorm parents who serve as mediators, mentors, counselors and advisers.

Academic Support

Students can work in the Learning Center, study alone or in groups, research, meet with tutors, or just relax and read in Hedges Library till 10 p.m. weeknights.

Peer Support

Our dorm prefects and proctors help fellow students adjust to life at Baylor by planning fun events on campus and helping with everything from homesickness to homework.

Off Campus Fun

Baylor’s residential life team always has something fun on the daily calendar, and on weekends they take it up a notch. Every weekend, groups of students head downtown or to trendy spots in nearby neighborhoods.

Comfortable Social Spaces

Our spacious academic center, dining hall, library, student center, and the quad are popular gathering spots to hang out and relax with friends.

Making the most of Chattanooga

As if our amazing 690-acre campus isn't enough, Baylor is fortunate to be located five minutes away from a vibrant downtown area where you will find incredible restaurants, cozy coffeehouses, boutiques, an expansive Riverwalk along the Tennessee River, fishing spots, and hundreds of other things to do within twenty minutes of campus.

Chattanooga also scores big with the Lookouts minor league baseball team, Division I college athletics, and an annual lineup of national softball, soccer, and tennis tournaments.

The surrounding mountains and waterways offer a huge variety of outdoor sports from whitewater rafting and paddle boarding to rock climbing and mountain biking.

Baylor's Student Activities team takes full advantage of these incredible resources by scheduling events and activities throughout the week and especially on weekends., and they are more than happy to help students organize an event or activity that meets their interests.

and the most of Baylor Boarding...

A True Sense of Community

The sense of community in our residential life program begins with an exceptional team of dorm parents.

To keep schedules and activities on track, dorm parents work with prefects – student leaders who help students with everything from homesickness to homework. They also plan some of the most fun events on campus, including winter games, special dinners, "Galentine" celebrations, and the legendary skit night during Spirit Week.

Activities & Opportunities

Our boarders may live in a small community, they have access to a wider array of opportunities than you may think.

Boarding students also have access to leadership opportunities both in the dorm and in our greater leadership structure.

We are also fully committed to the voice of boarding leadership, including having reserved places for boarding representation on both our Honor Council and Student Leadership Board.
