Webb Wins Annual XC Camp Handicap Race

The Baylor girls' cross country team ended its annual pre-season camp with the 25th traditional handicap race - a staggered start, based on time trials, with a sprint to the finish line - last week.

Eighth grader Helen Webb was the winner this year, raising the "Spirit Stick" after passing 12 teammates while holding off the remaining four.

"Our goal every year is to build the foundation for what we all want to be a great season," said head coach Heather Ott. "Standing outside the Field House before we left, we had already committed to giving nothing less than our best. After four days of camp, we are on our way to constructing the fabric of what will sustain, inspire, and strengthen us in the weeks and months ahead."
