Urey Leads Baylor Rivalry Win

Baylor 13, GPS 12. Shannon Urey scored five goals and assisted on three others to lead the Baylor girls' lacrosse team in a 13-12 victory at rival GPS Thursday. Sloan Johnson added four goals, Olivia Bettis had two goals and one assist, Haley Rice had a goal and an assist, and Gracie Born scored one goal.

Kym Ardrey dominated draw controls, winning ten of Baylor's total of 17, while the defensive unit of Sierra Ross, Charlsey Sullivan, and Willa Pitts caused eight turnovers and scooped ten groundballs. Goalie Adrianna Richard had two saves for the win.

Baylor, 11-2, plays at Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy Tuesday.

GPS 8, Baylor MS 7, 3OT. In Middle School girls' lacrosse action Thursday, GPS needed three overtimes to beat Baylor 8-7. Raider goalie Sabrina Merritt had an impressive 22 saves in the loss. Jamie Butt scored three goals for Baylor with Ellis Mitchum and Holly Merritt adding two each. Baylor, 1-4, hosts Signal Mountain Friday.
