USA Olympic swimmer Claire Curzan of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, N.C. set three national records in Baylor's Aquatic Center on Nov. 20 but the AquaRaiders were the winners of both girls' and boys' meets against the national powerhouse.
The meet was competed on the short course, which provides shorter laps, more turns, and more inactivity after turns which lead to faster times than the traditional long course format. Curzan, a 2021 Olympian, set new national marks in the 100 meter butterfly, the 100 meter backstroke, and the 50 meter freestyle (relay lead-off).
Lillie Boggs won two events to lead the Baylor girls to a 147-129 win over the Crusaders. Boggs won the 200 meter individual medley and 400 meter freestyle while Caroline Schenck added a win in the 100 meter freestyle and Charlotte Murphree took first in the meter breastroke. Baylor also won the 200 meter medley relay (Genevieve O'Neil, Boggs, Reese Skiles, Madelyn Yates).
The Baylor boys took a 166-120 win behind Drew Hitchcock who won the 200 meter IM and the 100 meter butterfly. Caden Fritz was first in the 100 meter backstroke, Sam Flack won the 400 meter freestyle, and Charlie Han took the 100 meter breaststroke. Baylor swept the relays, winning the 200 meter medley (Fritz, Han, Josean Massucco, Owen Seymour), the 200 meter freestyle (Seymour, Matthew Potter, Hitchcock, Flack), and the 400 meter freestyle (Fritz, Massucco, Hitchcock, Flack).
