Baylor 4, Chattanooga Christian 0. The Baylor softball team moved a step closer to a sixth consecutive state championship with a 4-0 shutout of Chattanooga Christian Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders, 25-1, will play GPS, an 8-6 winner over St. Benedict, in the winner's bracket semifinal later on Wednesday.
Acelynn Sellers was stellar and left little for the Raider offense to do, allowing just one hit and striking out five in the complete game victory. She walked two Charger hitters. The Baylor bats were up to the challenge, grinding out nine hits, drawing three walks, and striking out only once.
Baylor got all it would need in the first inning with a Syd Berzon single driving in Addi Yates, who had reached on an error, and Raven Jones singling in Sellers, who had walked. The Raiders padded the lead in the fifth when Sellers doubled, Cadashia Collins followed with a double to score Sellers, and Katie Raper popped a two-run homer to put it out of reach, especially the way Sellers was throwing.
For Baylor, Morgan Sharpe was 1-for-3, Sellers was 1-for-3 with a double, Berzon was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Collins was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Jones was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Raper was 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBI, and Riley Oleksik was 1-for-2.
