Second Half Goals Put Baylor in Championship Game

Baylor 3, McCallie 1. Two second-half goals in a 10-minute span lifted the Baylor soccer team to a 3-1 win over McCallie in the semifinal game of the state tournament Wednesday. Baylor will play for the championship Thursday night.

Phelipe Spielman put the Raiders ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal at the 30:26 mark but McCallie scored nine minutes later to make it 1-1 at halftime. Mohammed Wumpini's goal at the 55:57 point put Baylor ahead for good and Gui Gragnano's score at 64:53 put the game away.

Baylor got off 21 shots to McCallie's seven in the match. Raider goalkeeper Zach Ubamadu needed only one save for the victory.

Baylor, 17-1-1, will play Father Ryan, a 2-1 winner over Christian Brothers, for the title Thursday at 7:30 ET. A championship would be the ninth for Baylor and the first since 2018.
