Raiders Out at State Baseball

Lipscomb Academy 3, Baylor 2. Baylor's quest for a fourth straight state baseball championship ended Wednesday with a 3-2 elimination game loss to Lipscomb Academy. The Raiders, considered by most to be the favorite to win the title, were upset by McCallie Tuesday, by an identical 3-2 score. Baylor finishes the season 22-9.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, Lipscomb on three walks and a two-run single, and Baylor on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Hampton that scored Henry Godbout and an RBI double by Tomas Valincius, driving in John Emendorfer. After that, the usually potent Baylor bats would produce only two hits, singles by Amari Jefferson and Godbout in the fifth inning.
