Middle School Track Teams Win Debuts

Baylor Girls 86, Rhea County 10. Jada Cooper won three events to lead the Baylor Middle School girls' track team to an 86-10 win over Rhea County in the season's first competition Tuesday. Cooper won the high jump, the 100 meter dash, and the 800 meter run.

Other top scorers for the Raiders were Maris Ebel (1st - shot put, 1st - discus), Maelynn Adams-Cook (1st - long jump, 1st - 400 meter, 2nd - high jump), Helen Webb (1st - 1600 meter, 2nd - 800 meter), Emery Carico (1st - 200 meter), and Ellie Myers (2nd - 800 meter). The Baylor 4 X 400 meter relay team of Myers, Webb, Elizabeth Stophel, and Lily Simpson finished first.

Baylor Boys 91, Rhea County 7. Caleb Hampton and Rhett Johnson were first in two events each as the Baylor Middle School boys beat Rhea County 91-7. Hampton won the 100 meter dash and the long jump and finished second in the shot put while Johnson won the shot put and discus events.

Others scoring points for the Raiders include Amari Jefferson (1st - 200 meter, 2nd - long jump, 2nd - 100 meter), Matt Murphy (1st - 100 hurdles), Garrison Corley (1st - 1600 meter), Jude Smith (1st - 400 meter), and Bowan Allan (1st - 800 meter). Baylor won both the 4 X 100 meter relay (KyKy Careathers, Evan Haynie, Jefferson, Hampton) and the 4 X 400 meter relay (Jack Gartman, Burke Murphy, Allan, Smith).

Baylor hosts the CSTHEA Patriots Monday.
