McKnight and Berzon Perfect as Raiders Sweep to Spring Fling

Baylor 16, St. Cecilia Academy 0. Macy Ann McKnight pitched the first of two Baylor perfect games, as the Raiders' softball team routed St. Cecilia 16-0 in game one of a doubleheader, shortened to three innings by the run rule, Wednesday. McKnight faced the minimum number of nine batters and struck out seven.

Meanwhile, Baylor batters took advantage of 12 walks, three batters hit by pitches, and five hits. Makayla Packer's 3-run homer was the highlight added to a 2-run double by Raven Jones. Syd Berzon had a two-RBI double and a sac fly RBI and Abby McNamara, Couriyah Stegall, and Brinley Garrison added hits.

Baylor 12, St. Cecilia Academy 0. Syd Berzon threw four perfect innings, striking out ten of the 12 batters she faced, to lead Baylor in a 12-0, four-inning win in game two. Berzon also blasted a 2-run home run and drew a bases-loaded walk for a third RBI. The win clinched a berth in next week's Spring Fling where the Raiders will defend a string of four state championships.

Macy Ann McKnight added a 2-run homer, Makayla Packer tripled, Abby McNamara had an RBI double, Bailee Stack had a hit and an RBI, and Raven Jones singled. Baylor batters drew eight more walks in game two.

Baylor, 39-3, begins the state tournament Tuesday at 5:00 at Murfreesboro's SportsCom against an opponent to be named.
