Baylor 5, Lipscomb Academy 0. Baylor pitchers Greyson Linderman and Gage Johnson combined to hurl a two-hit shutout as the Raiders beat Lipscomb Academy 5-0 in the first region baseball action of the season Thursday night at McCallie.
Linderman earned the win, allowing the two hits and striking out eight in six innings. Johnson finished the Mustangs off with a perfect seventh inning that include one strikeout. Baylor had only six hits and did most of the damage with a pair of two-run homers in the fifth inning, one by Cooper Kinney and the other by Nick Kurtz. Colin Ahearn and Taylor Shahan added singles and Jay Dill drove in a run with a sac fly.
Baylor, 2-0, will complete the region series with Lipscomb in a doubleheader at McCallie today. Baylor is currently playing home games at McCallie due to flooded fields on the Baylor campus.
