Baylor One Win Away from Ten-in-a-Row

Baylor 4, Hutchison 0. The Baylor girls' tennis team is one win away from a tenth straight state championship after blanking Hutchison 4-0 in Tuesday's state semifinal match at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.

After doubles teams Helen Guerry/Ensley Collins (who will play the same Hutchison duo for the state doubles championship later this week) and Gabby Czarnecki/Jessica Lance took 8-0 and 8-2 wins, respectively to earn the doubles point for the Raiders, Guerry, Claire McOmie, and Claudia Finlay were the first to secure wins at singles to earn the needed four points. Agda Laakso, Collins, and Czarnecki were all leading by a set when the deciding match was won.

Baylor, 9-1, will play Knox Catholic, the team that handed the Raiders their only loss this season, for the championship on Wednesday. A win would give Baylor ten straight state championships and 14 total.
