Baylor Grabs Second Region Win at Knox Catholic

Baylor 4, Knox Catholic 2. The Baylor soccer team, now on a five-game winning streak, took an important region win Thursday, beating Knox Catholic 4-2 in Knoxville. Baylor scored all four goals in the first half with Catholic cutting the lead in half midway through the second half.

Zoey Mize was the offensive leader for Baylor, assisting on goals by Elizabeth Stophel, Skylar Schwartz, and Melissa Oliveira before capping off the Raider scoring with a converted penalty kick. Other standouts for Baylor were Campbell Hoss, Sara Hill, Merritt Yarbrough, Ellie Carico, Jada Cooper, Aliya Cooper, and Violeta Villamayor.

"We had a great start to the game and really wanted to be aggressive in the first part of the game," said Baylor coach Curtis Blair. "We turned off for about six minutes and gave them some life, but anytime you can win on the road in our region is great."

Baylor, 12-1-2 overall and 2-0 in region play, hosts rival GPS Wednesday.
