Baylor Championship, MVP Streaks at Best of Preps End

For the first time since 2012, the Baylor girls' basketball team did not bring home the championship trophy from the Times Free Press Best of Preps Tournament, played annually at Chattanooga State Community College.

The Raiders beat Notre Dame 44-40 in the opening round last Thursday before falling to eventual champion Meigs County 45-39 in the semifinals. Baylor finished in fourth place, losing to East Hamilton 56-28 in the game for third place.

The 2018 tournament also marked the first time in six years that a Baylor player was not named tournament MVP. Kaleigh Clemons '16 had a four-year streak of her own, taking MVP honors 2012-2015, Mya Long '17 was MVP in 2016, and JuToreyia Wills was the MVP last year. Sophomore Raegyn Conley was Baylor's only All-Tournament team selection this year.

Baylor, 7-8, plays at St. Cecilia Friday.
