Baylor Boys Streak to 13, Girls Lose in OT at JPII

Baylor Boys 53, JPII 38. The Baylor boys' basketball team continued its amazing start to the 2018-19 season with a 13th straight victory, a 53-38 road region win at Pope John Paul II Tuesday.

Beyuan Hendricks hit one 3-pointer and finished with 14 points to lead the Raiders. Nick Kurtz added 12 points, Greyson Linderman hit three 3-pointers for nine points, Lorenzo White had six points with one 3-pointer, Blake Pruitt and Mekos Baker had five points each, and Wiley Pippenger scored two points. The Knights' Sam Specht led all scorers with 17 points.

Baylor, 13-0 overall and 3-0 in region play, returns to Nashville Friday for another region matchup at Brentwood Academy.

JPII 38, Baylor Girls 35, OT. Britt Barton scored 11 points and older sister Hayden Barton had 10 for the Baylor girls as the Raiders saw a nine-point halftime lead disappear and took a 38-35 overtime loss at Pope John Paul II. Both Bartons hit one 3-point goal.

Brooklyn Gordon also had one 3-pointer and added nine points, Macy Ann McKnight had four, and Bella White scored one point. Ashley Malone led the Knights with 10 points.

Baylor, 8-9 overall and 2-3 in league play, travels to Brentwood Academy Friday.
