Six Baylor Athletes Awarded at Best of Preps Banquet

Baylor athletes won six of the 21 awards bestowed by the Chattanooga Times Free Press at the newspaper's annual Best of Preps Awards banquet Wednesday, June 8.

Wirt Gammon, Sr. Baseball Award

  • Henry Godbout '22 - Baylor's second consecutive TSSAA Mr. Baseball Award winner, Godbout hit over .500 for the Red Raiders this year. He is committed to play at the University of Virginia..

Best of Preps Girls' Soccer Award

  • Zoey Mize '22 - Mize was and All-State performer that helped lead the Baylor soccer team to a 16th appearance at the state tournament this year where the Raiders finished as runner-up.

LaQuisha Jackson Girls' Track Award

  • Evie Culbreath '23 - Culbreath was the state champion in the penathlon and 100 meter hurdles and set school records in both this year. She was also second in two events and anchored a third-place relay team.

Jim Phifer Boys' Golf Award

  • Haden Maxwell '22 - A top performer in junior golf, Maxwell was a leader on Baylor's City Prep, region, and state championship team this year.

Phoebe Wright Girls' Cross Country Award

  • Addi Greene '25 - Just a freshman, Greene took 26 seconds off her personal best time to finish as runner-up at the state championship last fall, earning her All-State designation.

Bartlett Girl's Tennis Award

  • Agda Laakso '22 - Laakso teamed with sophomore Helen Guerry to take second in the state doubles tournament. She also helped the Red Raiders to a state runner-up team finish.
