Professional golfer Stephan Jaeger '08 shot a 3-under 68 to finish at 22-under and win the Albertsons Boise Open at Hillcrest Country Club by two strokes Sunday, Aug. 17. It was Jaeger's first win on the Korn Ferry Tour since the Knoxville Open in May 2018, but is the fifth tour win overall for the former Baylor boarding student from Germany, tying him for sixth in all-time wins on the PGA Tour's developmental circuit.
Jaeger, who was inducted into the Baylor Sports Hall of Fame in 2018, competed regularly on the PGA Tour for the past two seasons and hopes to earn his way back to the sport's main stage with more success on the Korn Ferry Tour. "My goal every time I play is to win the golf tournament," Jaeger said in a story by PGATour.com's Preston Smith. "It's been a little bit of a drought, and obviously I was on (the PGA Tour) last year, and I want to win one of those (tournaments), but I'm on the Korn Ferry Tour this year, so I'm going to try and win as many as I can by next August. I've got to play well on this tour to accomplish what I want to do, which is to get back on (the PGA Tour)."
A return to the PGA Tour would reunite Jaeger with three other Baylor grads who play at the highest level - Harris English '07, Luke List '03, and Keith Mitchell '10 . All three are slated to compete in the PGA's FedEx Cup playoffs which begin Thursday, Aug. 20. The playoff format features the top 125 players based on this year's performance. English is ranked 27th, Mitchell is 10th, and List, who also posted a Korn Ferry Tour victory this season, is 116th.
