Baylor graduate and PGA Tour professional Harris English '07 returned to the national golf spotlight with a second place finish at the Northern Trust championship on Aug. 23.
The tournament, played at TPC Boston, was the first round of the FedExCup playoffs and reduced the players eligible for the FedExCup from 125 to 70. With his 64-66-66-69-265 (-19) performance, second by 11 strokes to Dustin Johnson's staggering 30-under-par total, English vaulted from the 27th spot in the cup rankings to number six and advances to the second round's BMW Championship, Aug. 27-30 at Olympia Fields, Ill. Thirty players from that tourney will advance to the Tour Championship the following week.
English's remarkable play also garnered attention from the national golf media. Check out this article by Shane Ryan - The Silent, Stunning Resurgence of Harris English - in the latest edition of Golf Digest.
English, who is joined on the PGA Tour by Luke List '03 and Keith Mitchell '10 while Stephan Jaeger '08 plays on the PGA Korn Ferry Tour, joined the PGA Tour in 2012 and has two career Tour victories and 30 top ten finishes.
