The records Brooke Pancake Rende ’08 established on the golf course during her years at Baylor are certainly enough to earn her a place in the Baylor Sports Hall of Fame, but the history-making accolades continued to come even after her graduation. 

While playing for the Red Raiders, Rende led the team to five state championships while winning four individual state championships, the only player in TSSAA history to take state medalist honors four years in a row. At the time of her induction, she is tied for the lowest 18-hole score (64, 2006) posted at the TSSAA state championship; was part of a team that tied for the best 18-hole team score (138, 2006); and led the Raiders to the lowest ever 36-hole team score in 2006, when Baylor posted a 280, three strokes lower than the next best score. At the age of 17, she was the youngest inductee into the Tennessee Women’s Golf Hall of Fame.

At the University of Alabama, where she was a four-time All-American, Rende led the Crimson Tide to its first ever SEC championship in her sophomore season (2010) and first ever NCAA regional title during her junior year (2011). In 2012, her four-foot putt on the 72nd hole of the NCAA championship gave Bama its first and only national championship. Rende would finish national runner-up individually with a 72-hole aggregate score of 286, two under par. For her accomplishments on the course, Rende was named the SEC Female Athlete of the Year in 2012, the first golfer in SEC history to win the award, and was awarded the Roy F. Kramer Award, given to the top female student-athlete in the conference. Outside the SEC, Rende was the recipient of the Honda Sport Award for the 2011-12 season, given to the top female collegiate golfer, and was the top-ranked player by Golfweek during her junior and senior years.

During her college years, Rende was also noted for academic achievements, holding a 4.0 GPA her entire collegiate career. She was a three-time winner of the SEC Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2010, 2011 and 2012) and the National Golf Coaches’ Association’s Scholar Athlete Award (2010, 2011 and 2012), was twice awarded the Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award (2011 and 2012), and was the recipient of the Elite 89 Award (2010). After the 2012 season, Rende was recognized as the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year, awarded to the top student-sportsperson in the country, the first athlete from the University of Alabama and the first female golfer from any school to win the award. She was also selected for the NCAA Top 10 Award, given by the NCAA to ten athletes, male or female, that attain elite status in their sport, the classroom, and the community.

In the amateur ranks, Rende was a semifinalist at the 2011 U.S. Amateur at Rhode Island Country Club and had the best record on the U.S. Curtis Cup team in 2012. She made her professional debut at the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open and finished professional qualifying school on her first attempt. She enjoys a strong presence on the LPGA Tour, competing full time since her rookie year in 2013.

Rende resides in Chattanooga with her husband Derek, a past champion on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica, and their daughter Lucy, born in May of 2018.
