Outside Magazine Names Chattanooga "Best Town Ever"
Outside magazine readers discovered what Baylor students have known for decades. If you love the great outdoors, there’s no better place than Chattanooga. Within minutes of our campus lie some of the nation’s most beautiful settings for kayaking, rafting, hiking, biking (road and mountain), rock climbing, paddle boarding, hang gliding, and more.
Nearby Shops and Restaurants
For those interested in a more laid back experience, a stroll across the Walnut Street pedestrian bridge takes you from eclectic shops and a wide variety of restaurants in the North Shore neighborhood to cultural gems in the Bluff View Arts District. The Hunter Museum of American Art has one of the nation’s largest collections of American art and a few blocks farther downtown, you can meet more than 10,000 animals at the Tennessee Aquarium. Stroll along the South Side's trendy Main Street and surrounding blocks for a diverse selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and retail spots.
Planning a visit? Check out the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau website for complete information. Whether you're a prospective family, a visiting parent, or faculty new to Baylor, there's plenty of wonderful things to discover about Chattanooga.
NOTE: Baylor is located minutes from the downtown area, so downtown hotels and the bed and breakfast spots in the Bluff View Arts District will be the most convenient in driving time.

The "Go Green" City
"Memphis loves to sing them blues, but in Chattanooga, the tune is "Go Green." The river town has come a long way since being designated America's most polluted city in 1969. Today, 22 miles of once inaccessible riverfront have been reclaimed for public use, and revitalization projects have made the city a model eco town and tourist hotspot."
