Biography

Elizabeth (Liz) Young is entering her third decade in independent schools and is currently serving as Associate Director of College Counseling at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In addition to her role in college counseling, traveling and supporting Baylor’s students and families, Elizabeth coaches Baylor’s crew team and serves a role in residential life.

Before Baylor, Elizabeth served in the same role at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut where she led the reaccreditation committee for admission, hosted and presented at the International Admission Symposium, and sat on the Education Policy Committee. She also served as a faculty member at the summer College Exploration Experience at Lehigh University. Preceding Hotchkiss, Elizabeth worked in the admission office at Lehigh, recruiting in New England, and overseeing major on-campus recruitment events, and leading recruitment for the Global Citizenship Program. In her first decade in schools, Elizabeth served in the admission offices at the Saint James School (2002-2005), The Hill School (2005-2010) and the Agnes Irwin School where she also served a senior role in financial aid. Elizabeth competed at the Division 1 level as a rower at Colgate University, receiving an A.B. in Environmental Economics and English and a M.S.Ed. from The Johns Hopkins University.

As a native of Louisville, Kentucky, Elizabeth has a love of the Kentucky Derby and college basketball.
