A Jamaican native, Lacey moved to Tennessee to attend Lee University where she earned her B.A. in psychology. She went on to gain experience in education and mathematics in Colorado as an Americore member at the New America School.  She has also served as a mathematics tutor at Mountain Valley Academy in California, and, most recently, as a math and science teacher at Harlem Village Academy in New York City.
