Shane Turner teaches history in the Upper School and coaches wrestling. He served as assistant wrestling coach at Baylor from 2011-2013. Turner owned and operated a construction company before his passion for connecting with young people prompted a career change. Pursuing his dream, he studied secondary education at UTC, from which he received his B.A., magna cum laude, with endorsements in history, government, and geography. Turner has taught at Red Bank High School and Boyd-Buchanan School. As a wrestling coach, he has led his teams to several state championships.
Turner articulates the core Baylor principle that helping students reach their full potential begins with meaningful teacher-student relationships— and his teaching and coaching successhitherto demonstrates that he practices what he preaches.
Turner is married to Katie, has children named Isaiah and Elijah, and lives in Soddy Daisy.
