Flannery O'Connor once said, "A story is a way to say something that can't be said in any other way."
In Baylor’s Hedges Library, students can find a great story - and create one. The aniMAKE Studio provides students and faculty members with access to the tools needed to create their own digital stories and presentations.
Resources include a green screen, a wall-sized writeable glass board for hand-drawn animation, stop-motion figures and clay-mation clay, iPads filled with digital storytelling and animation apps, and a 3D printer for designing custom stop-motion set pieces. English, history, Spanish, science, leadership and theater classes have used the studio to create everything from Shakespeare reenactments to invasive species comics.
The aniMAKE Studio was designed as an outlet for creativity with classwork and as a space for students to independently practice the skills of effective storytelling, such as sequence, cadence, plot, tone, and voice. Mastering these skills and learning to present original ideas powerfully will prepare students to tell their own stories as they expand their talents into the worlds of academia, business, service, the arts and more.
