Endowed Faculty Chairs

Honoring Excellence:

The Power of Endowed Faculty Chairs

Ask any alumnus what they valued most about their Baylor experience, and their response will inevitably include a reference to a teacher or coach who made a profound impact. These dedicated faculty are the heart of Baylor, and the school continually seeks opportunities to attract and retain people who enhance the culture with their passion and talent.

One way Baylor demonstrates a commitment to faculty development is through its endowed faculty chair program. This program not only honors distinguished educators, but also fosters an environment of continuous growth and innovation.

Dean of Faculty William Montgomery ‘92 notes, “Baylor’s endowed teaching chairs are both a significant honor and a powerful tool. Because they recognize depth of contribution, excellence of craft, and significance of community impact, and because those who have earned them are so truly exemplary, the endowed chairs are an honor that teachers and coaches genuinely strive towards. That striving helps us grow,” he said. “That the school is able to provide these chairs and the award that comes with them in the midst of other robust forms of recognition and support--like the Barks-Guerry Global Studies Grants, Summer Renewal Grants, and professional development funds -- make Baylor a place where folks want to put down roots.  The best part, of course, is that growing teachers helps us grow students.”

Support for faculty include:

The best part, of course, is that growing teachers helps us grow students."
