Blakesly Warren Brock '14 won the United States Golf Association's U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, becoming Baylor's first female USGA national champion. Lew Oehmig '35 and Bill Ploeger '58 were USGA Senior champions, Oehmig a three-time winner and three-time runner-up at the event.
Brock finished the feat on Thursday, Sept. 30, defeating Aliea Clark 5 and 4 in the finals at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, S.C. The third youngest player to win the Women's Mid-Am, Brock won six straight holes, starting with the seventh hole, to take control of the match. The championship earns Brock an exemption into the 2022 U.S. Women's Open.
Brock was a two-time individual state champion at Baylor, winning the title in 2012 and 2013 and finishing runner-up in 2011. She played on two Raider championship teams, also in '12 and '13.
