Baylor Crew Camp

Southeast Regional Youth Development Camp for Experienced Rowers

This exciting and enriching camp is geared for serious rowers and coxswains throughout the Southeast, ages 15-18, who are interested in training and competing at an elite level. Our camp is anything but typical - not only will you experience a rigorous, intensive and competitive training program under the guidance of Hartmut Buschbacher, the Olympic coach for the 1992-2000 U.S. crew team, you will also compete against the top crews in the country at the U.S. Rowing National Championship Regatta.

This camp is designed to harness the serious athlete’s rowing potential and foster a lifelong love of the sport. Athletes should have a minimum of one year’s experience and should be considering a career as a student-athlete in college. Priority admission will be given to athletes from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and the Virgin Islands. We are accepting 25 men, 25 women and 6 coxswains, all applicants must meet the selection criteria to be considered. Athletes are required to have a 2000 m erg score at or below the following:

Weight class
Open 6:55 (male), 7:55 (female)
Light 7:05 (male), 8:05 (female)

Activities include ergometer sessions, weight training, technical sessions, seminars, and two daily practices on the water in top quality racing shells. One coach per boat guarantees daily individual instruction. Seminars include weight training, stretching, sports medicine, proper nutrition, core-body strengthening, mental training, rigging, race strategy, and college recruiting. All athletes will be video taped and will receive a performance evaluation and video with individualized training tips. All sessions provide ample instruction for coxswains who receive coaching on and off the water. After two intensive weeks of training you’ll join other top oarsmen and women in creating an “All-Star” crew to compete in the U.S. Rowing National Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana.
