Enrichment Camps

New this summer, we will offer several enrichment programs to compliment our traditional summer programs. These offerings focus on learning new skills and making new friends in a setting that is over the top! Our highly individualized programs provide a fantastic camper to staff ratio to ensure that every child will have the opportunity to make the most out of summer. Our new enrichment programs include:

American Red Cross Babysitting Camp | June 25-26 | 11 – 15 years | Coed
Baylor has joined forces with the American Red Cross to bring you our first Babysitting Training course. This week-long course is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, instructional video and lively discussions. Participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to make smart decisions and stay safe in various babysitting situations. Upon completion of this course you will also be certified in Infant and Child CPR and First Aid. You will be the most sought-after babysitter on the block!  Find out more here.

AVA Art Camp | June 4 – August 3 | ages vary per camp | Coed
AVA’s Art Camp offers weeklong in-depth classes led by professional artists that cover a range of topics in 2-D and 3-D art. A variety of age-appropriate classes (ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11), each with a different focus, are offered throughout the months of June and July.    Find out more here.

AVA Summer Film Institute - Several Sessions| June 4-24 | ages 12 – 17 years | Coed
Become a director, set designer, writer or videographer with these three exciting programs for summer 2011. Presented by the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) and Baylor School, these enrichment programs will introduce you to the art of filmmaking! These four, weeklong sessions will focus on short narrative video, creating a music video, cinematography and photography. These classes take place on Baylor’s campus with expert instruction by AVA artists. Find out more here.

Cooking Camp | July 23-27, 2012 | ages 8 – 12 years | Coed
Baylor is cooking up some extra camp fun this summer for young chefs and fellow foodies.  Join us this summer for some hands-on training in creating culinary delights that will be super-easy to recreate at home! You will also visit Baylor's very own organic garden and learn about the benefits of using organic and local foods in your cooking.  Find out more here.

This week of camp will offer campers unique activities in earth, life, and physical science as well as science inquiry and technology. Like real-life forensic scientists, campers will observe carefully, organize, and record data, think critically, and conduct simple tests to solve crimes like theft, vandalism, water pollution and more!  Find out more here.

Baylor Art Camp: Eco-Friendly Art Camp | July 16-20 | 9 am - noon | 7 - 12 years | Coed
Art comes to life with a new twist! This camp will incorporate lessons focusing on a special awareness of using and re-using everyday materials, and creating eco-friendly “upcycling” art with a new purpose. Classes are led by Jan Cooper, artist and Baylor faculty member. Find out more here.

Girls will bust the summer boredom streak in this ART-tivity Camp. Cool projects include jewelry design and greeting card creation, plus some sewing and creative painting techniques. Before and After Care
Need more time?  Join us for extended camp hours in before and aftercare during any day camp session this summer!  Both sessions are staffed by our fantastic counselors and consist of supervised care starting at 7:45 each morning and running to 5:30 each evening. Find out more here.

 

Baylor Dance Camps | July 16 – 27 | Ages 7 – 18 years
Join Baylor Dance instructor Jennia Shaley and other member of Baylor’s dance community as you explore new dances and choreography.. Find out more here.

 

NEW! Baylor Baylor Chess Camp | June 18-22 | Ages 9 – 14 | Coed
Join Baylor instructor and coach TJ Reap, along with members of our high school chess club in our first annual chess camp! Students will participate in strategic lectures, practice drills, and play in several types of tournaments, including regular, blitz, and bughouse. Chances to play/work with instructors will be numerous. Everyday Etiquette | July 9-13 | Ages 9 – 14 | Coed
Make the most of any social situation and shine by practicing everyday etiquette!  Led by Dawn Jumper, Director of The Etiquette Company, this week long camp focuses on social skill education. Emphasis is placed on laying a foundation of good manners and leadership skills. Find out more here.

 

Baylor Sailing Camp | June 25-29 | ages 8 – 13 years | Coed
Don’t miss this exciting introduction to sailing! This one-week session is for beginners as well as those with some sailing experience. Each session will include land-based classroom learning and instruction on the water in a safe, supervised environment. By the end of the week, you will have the knowledge and skills to guide your own boat around a marked course across the lake. Campers should be competent swimmers and comfortable with water activities. . Find out more here.

This class is an introduction to building and programming robots using the LEGO® Robotics System.  Students will learn mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork skills. Find out more here.

 

NEW!! Theater Camp | July 23-27 | ages 9 – 14 years | Coed
Baylor drama teacher and local artist Beth Gumnick will lead campers in a week long adventure into playwriting, performance, and productions.  Campers will have a chance to explore their own ideas on stage as well as perform other scripted work throughout the week.  A final production for parents and friends will be set for Friday, July 13 at noon. Find out more here.

What is “Walkabout”?  Walkabout is an outdoor program that inspires Baylor students to be adventurous.  Backpacking, rock climbing, and kayaking are vehicles to explore the natural world and foreign cultures in a unique way.  Outdoor adventure is Walkabout's tool for creating a personal search for grace, composure, fellowship, awareness, and reflection. Find out more here.
