“In order for independent schools to thrive in the 21st Century, NAIS believes that they must be sustainable along five dimensions: financial, demographic, programmatic, environmental, and global.”
- Patrick F. Bassett. President, National Association of Independent Schools
Environmental Leadership
Planting organic gardens, composting dining hall waste, following environmentally sound construction guidelines, reducing paper waste….Baylor has definitely become “greener” in recent years. Heading up the school’s efforts is the Sustainability Task Force (comprised of students, faculty, and administrators) who have been charged with developing environmental initiatives that will benefit the campus long term. In addition, organized efforts by groups such as the Environmental Community Service Program and Earth Advocates Club give students a leading role in addressing environmental concerns. Also joining the effort are dozens of other students, faculty, parents, administrators, and alums who are united in their desire to pave the way for positive change.
