Parent Alliance Ambassadors are selected current students and parents
who help new families transition to Baylor by welcoming them into the
school community. There are two areas of focus: (1) helping new day
students in grades 7-12; (2) helping new boarding students in grades
9-12.
Ambassadors for Day Families
Because the sixth grade is the school’s main point of entry for day
families, the parents and students in this grade begin building as sense
of community almost immediately. The Day Ambassadors service is
designed to for day families in seventh grade and above. The purpose of
the program is to:
1. Improve communication between Baylor School and new day families
2. Help new day families transition as they start their Baylor experience
In the late spring and throughout the summer, new families are
matched with a current Baylor family. In partnership with the school
administration, a new family’s parent ambassador serves as a resource
for questions that may arise throughout the year. If you have any
questions regarding this service or are interested in volunteering,
please contact McKeller Newsom (email) or Patricia Miller (email) or phone: 423-332-8054.
Ambassadors for Boarding Families
Boarding Ambassadors assist with move-in/orientation weekend,
and help make the beginning of school a positive transition by
encouraging new students and serving as a point of contact for
questions.
In addition to the assistance with orientation each August, volunteer opportunities include helping out with boarding adviser groups by providing birthday cakes once/sememster and coordinate an off-campus social event for an adviser group once each semester.
If that is too much to tackle, you may be interested in delivering home-baked dorm snacks
about sevent times over the course of the school year. If you are
interested in learning more about the Boarding Ambassador service or
volunteering as an ambassador, please contact Linda Benton at 423-886-7028 or Lisa Romanchik at 423-322-1888. Additional information on the program and volunteer responsibilities is available by clicking here.
