Joe Gawrys Memorial, Part 1

Family, Friends of Joe Gawrys

The funeral for our friend and teacher, Joe Gawrys, took place Saturday, Jan. 16, in the Baylor Alumni Chapel. In a touching and lasting gift to the Baylor community, Joe selected the music and readings for the occasion. The music included performances by the Baylor string quartet, the Baylor concert choir, and a solo by Choir Director Vic Oakes. Rev. Ed Snow and Dr. Herb Barks '51 delivered remarks, and readings ranging from Rumi to Emily Dickenson were shared by Joe's five sisters. The eulogy was presented by Joe's brother, Kevin, and a chant by Buddhists Thanissara and Kittisaro (Randy Weinberg '70) was shared via a recording from a sacred mountain in South Africa. <p>This is part 1 of 2 videos.
