We know that settling into a new school is more than where your classes are and who your teachers will be – what you need to wear to be within the dress code requirements is also a very big deal! All Baylor students are expected to be dressed appropriately while on campus prior to the start of classes and through the last class of the day. We’ve outlined a few tips below, but for further guidance, you should also refer to the “Dress Regulations” section. B-Book (policy book).
Uniform FAQs for New Families
What will I wear during the school day?
Dress uniforms are worn each Monday (also known as Chapel Dress or Chapel Day). The dress uniform requirements include:
Boys: Approved button down oxford dress shirt (either blue or white, long sleeve or short sleeve), a tie, and approved khaki pants or shorts (seasonal). With the exception of the tie, these must be purchased either from Educational Outfitters, Lands End or the Used Uniform sale.
Girls: Approved button down dress shirt with approved khaki pants or any uniform skirt (all from Educational Outfitters, Lands End or Baylor Used Uniform sale)
Casual uniforms are worn all other school days. The casual day uniform requirements include:
Boys and Girls - B-shirt, a casual polo-type shirt in grey, white, or red, available in Baylor Campus Store, Educational Outfitters, Lands End or Used Uniform sale.
Boys – B-shirt worn with approved khaki pants or shorts (seasonal). These must be purchased from Educational Outfitters, Lands End or Used Uniform sale only.
Girls - B-shirt with any approved uniform skirt or khaki pants from Educational Outfitters orLands End. These must be purchased from Educational Outfitters, Lands End or Used Uniform sale only.
Where do I purchase these items?
There are several options for purchasing uniforms:
- The Baylor Campus Store, which is located on the bottom floor of the Student Center, keeps supplies of B shirts and approved uniform sweatshirts.
- Baylor also contracts with Educational Outfitters, and also Lands End where you can purchase your button down dress shirt, khaki pants, skirts, uniform sweaters or vests. Educational Outfitters has a local store located at 2271 Gunbarrel Road (phone: 423-894-1222) in the East Brainerd area. Both vendors have online stores allowing you to purchase uniforms via the links below..

Go to Lands’ End School Uniforms to outfit your boys and girls in clothing that meets dress codes and exceeds expectations. Shop online at www.landsend.com/school.
Go to Educational Outfillters online store to purchase Baylor dress code items.
- The Baylor Parent Alliance sponsors several Used Uniform sales. This year’s sale takes place in the Roddy theatre (dates TBD) and again in August during boarding orientation.
- Boarding students also have the option to purchase uniforms during Orientation Weekend in August. The Baylor Campus Store will be open at this time.
How many uniforms will I need?
This is up to you. Most boarders like enough uniforms to last for the week, so
they can do laundry on the weekends. Day students typically find that they can get by with fewer uniforms, but again, this is a personal/family preference.
Many students buy:
- Boys & Girls - One or two button down dress shirts. Girls prefer the 3/4 sleeve dress shirt that does not have to be tucked into skirts or pants.
- Boys & Girls - Four B-shirts (fewer shirts needed for day students typically)
- Boys: Three or more pairs of khaki pants (fewer pairs for day students typically)
- Boys: Three or more pairs of khaki shorts (fewer pairs for day students typically)
- Girls: Three or more skirts or khaki pants (fewer skirts needed for day students typically)
Where can I have my uniforms altered?
Educational Outfitters offers alteration services for day and boarding students, or you can use your own preferred alteration service. Girls should be mindful of skirt lengths (no more than four inches above the top of the knee in the front and back).
What about shoes, socks, belts, etc.?
Baylor requires students to the following guidelines:
1) Belt must be worn with khaki pants.
2) Socks must be worn and visible.
3) Most students wear running shoes for comfort, but any comfortable, closed toe shoe is acceptable.
4) Boys may wear any traditional tie or bow tie with dress shirts.
What types of outerwear will I need?
Only official uniform sweatshirts or sweaters/vests may be worn in classrooms. You will need a warm coat for the cold winter months. Raincoats with hoods are certainly helpful walking between classes on rainy days.
What can I wear around campus on evenings and weekends?
No uniforms are required after classes on weekdays and on weekends. You will want to bring appropriate, casual clothes for these times. (Tip for boarders: keep your casual clothes to a manageable amount – more clothes than necessary in a dorm room make it harder to keep a neat room)
