Baylor featured in Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated

The National Media spotlight has been shining on Baylor recently, with an article appearing in Wall Street Journal and a “top 25” listing by Sports Illustrated.

Shortly after the school’s athletic program was listed in Sports Illustrated as one of the top 25 programs in the country, The Wall Street Journal featured the school’s boarding program. Citing interviews with Baylor alumni, current boarding students and their parents, the article highlighted the emotions parents grapple with when considering boarding. Kathy Hanson, Baylor’s Vice President of Advancement and External Affairs and a board member with The Association of Boarding Schools, is well-versed on the topic. “There are two major forces facing boarding schools today - the stereotypes that exist about boarding school and the changes in today’s parents. The most damaging and patently untrue stereotype depicts the boarding student as a kid with a “problem” or a kid coming from a family with “problems.” In reality, boarding students are both independent and capable. They and their families select boarding because they recognize the unique benefits of learning where you live,” said Hanson.
